AkaiCon Lip Sync Live Rules
- All contestants must have an AkaiCon 2025 badge.
- Please follow the link at the bottom of this page to sign up for the contest. Due to time constraints and growing popularity for this contest, we will have a limited number of spots.
- There will be no actual singing on stage, this is a lip sync competition so be sure to bring your A game to impress the crowd and the judges! The judges will be given your forms, and will judge your performance based on certain criteria. This includes how well you connected the character to your song, your stage performance, audience interaction, your actual lip sync ability, and all over execution.
- Music must be sent to us beforehand. You can email it to us at AkaiConProgramming@gmail.com. In the event of two performers choosing the same song, we will take the first person who signed up. FILES WE CAN ACCEPT: Mp3 format is preferred (other files accepted: AAC or FLAC). If in doubt, purchased songs from iTunes also work. No phones, cds, or ipods will be accepted. Please be advised that the quality of your music is solely based upon the file that you send to us. YouTube links, while convenient, unfortunately do not have the sound quality needed for the Main Events Hall in most cases. You will have a chance to change your music up to June 20th. After this point we will not be able to change your stage music.
- This is an all ages event, so your music must be an edited version if it contains strong lyrics. Please keep this in mind before choosing your song. We reserve the right to deny any song that would not be appropriate for the stage.
- Contestants must show up 1 hour before the contest time so we can check everything and get you set up. We will line everyone up and give another run down of the official rules and answer any questions you may have. You will be emailed this information a little closer to the date of the event.
- Everything you bring on stage MUST LEAVE WITH YOU. Please do not spread glitter, confetti, sticky substances, or anything else that might make a mess or be difficult to clear from the stage.
- No flash bombs, fire effects, projectiles, or anything of this nature are allowed on stage.
- For safety reasons, you will not be able to jump or run off of the stage during your performance.
- Please note that all song and character choices are on a first come, first served basis. We will not allow repeat songs or characters, so be sure to sign up early, send us your music, and confirm your spot.
- You will have until Friday June 20th to make any changes to your song or character. After this point, if you are not able to perform as what you have chosen, you will forfeit your spot in the contest.
- If at any point you are not able to perform in the show, we ask that you let the Programming Team know that at AkaiconProgramming@gmail.com. If you are a no-call no-show to the event after confirming your spot, you will be disqualified from competing in the following year.
SPORTSMANSHIP CLAUSE
If at any point in time before, during, or after the performance we have found evidence of unsportsmanlike conduct, which includes but is not limited to negatively critiquing someone’s choice of cosplay, music, body type, etc. You will be disqualified from the competition and blacklisted from the next year’s contest. We at Akaicon expect everyone to be respectful of each other and if at any point in time you have heard or seen another contestant breaking this clause please notify the closest staff member so that it can be dealt with in a timely manner. We appreciate your cooperation with this and we want this to be a safe and uplifting competition for all.
