Akai Con 11th Unit June 27th - 29th

AkaiCon Risque Cosplay Contest Rules:

  •  Attendees must have an AkaiCon 2025 badge and a valid ID. Attendees must be 18 years of age or older to compete.
  • No nudity allowed. This is risque, it does not mean completely nude. We must follow TN law, and Expo Center rules. AFAB friends, please make sure to cover all private areas, and nipples cannot be seen. AMAB friends, private areas please. ANY violation of these rules will forfeit your place in the contest. Any questions about the clothing rules, please ask.
  • Please follow the link to sign up for the contest. Due to time constraints and growing popularity for this contest, we will have a limited number of spots.
  • Music must be sent to us beforehand. You can email it to us at AkaiConProgramming@gmail.com. In the event of two performers choosing the same song, we will take the first person who signed up. FILES WE CAN ACCEPT: Mp3  format is preferred (other files accepted: AAC or FLAC). If in doubt, purchased songs from iTunes also work. No phones, cds, or ipods will be accepted. Please be advised that the quality of your music is solely based upon the file that you send to us. YouTube links, while convenient, unfortunately do not have the sound quality needed for the Main Events Hall in most cases. You will have a chance to change your music up to June 20th. After this point we will not be able to change your stage music.
  • Contestants must show up 1 hour before the contest time so we can check everything and get you set up. YOU MUST BRING YOUR ID WITH YOU BEFORE WE CAN ALLOW YOU TO PARTICIPATE. We will line everyone up and give another run down of the official rules and answer any questions you may have. You will be sent an email confirmation before the convention to confirm your spot, music, and the time you will need to be present.
  • No photography will be allowed at this event.
  • Everything you bring on stage MUST LEAVE WITH YOU. Please do not spread glitter, confetti, sticky substances, or anything else that might make a mess.  We will have someone grabbing the clothes that are shed, and they will be given back to you at the end of your performance.
  • No flashbombs, fire effects, projectiles, or anything of this nature are allowed.
  • The judges will be given your forms, and will judge your performance based on certain categories. Remember.. this is an amateur contest. Any “professionals” or members of staff may perform a number, but are not allowed to compete for prizes. The number of guest performers is EXTREMELY limited and all spots are not guaranteed.
  •  All songs and characters are first come, first served. The only way to guarantee your spot is to sign up today! Please remember to send your music to AkaiConProgramming@gmail.com

SPORTSMANSHIP CLAUSE

If at any point in time before, during, or after the performance we have found evidence of unsportsmanlike conduct, which includes but is not limited to negatively critiquing someone’s choice of cosplay, music, body type, etc. You will be disqualified from the competition and blacklisted from the next year’s contest. We at Akaicon expect everyone to be respectful of each other, and if at any point in time you have heard or seen another contestant breaking this clause, please notify the closest staff member so that it can be dealt with in a timely manner. Please note that due to the nature of this contest, any sort of harassment at any time will NOT be allowed. Any breaking of this rule will forfeit your chance to compete and you will be subject to the Akaicon rules and regulations regarding this, up to the removal of your badge. We appreciate your cooperation with this and we want this to be a safe and uplifting competition for all.

No Call No Shows

If you are a no-call no-show to the event after confirming your spot, you will be disqualified from competing in the following year.
